Summer AROUND Manosque

When we were about to move from Lyon to Manosque, some people said to me “You’re going to get bored in Manosque (or around)”

Now that I live here, I must say that I’m pleasantly surprised to see that all those comments were wrong!

We have yet to experience winter in Provence, but summer is like a gigantic festival all around. You can go out almost every day/night if you want to, and you will find something to do or to see with children, as a couple, or with friends #inandaroundmanosque.

So, here is a list of things to do during the summer in the villages around us. Hope this gives you some more insight into what's happening and plan your summer exploring the beautiful villages all around.

From June 21 to July 21: Photography Exhibition « Écritures et Lumière » at Café du Cours in Reillanne, film and digital photographs. Yann Carlin.

From July 1st to August 25: Free concerts every Thursday (last two weeks on Wednesday) at la Boutique de la Bière in Sainte-Tulle (from 7 pm)

From July 1st to September 30: Art Exhibition of “les anciens métiers des hommes” at place Abel Roger, Oraison.

July 2, 3 and 4: Fair at Marronniers Parking lot, Gréoux-les-Bains (from 8 pm to 11pm).

From July 4 to 10: 5 free concerts at the ruelle des lavoirs in Saint-Tulle (from 9 pm).

From July 5 to 28: 11th Verdon Jazz Festival. Free concerts in 6 different towns! The names of the towns and musicians are written in the poster below. To check out the full program, head to: https://www.lacs-gorges-verdon.fr/sortir/agenda/

From July 7 to August 22: “les estivales” DLVA. Free concerts will be taking place all summer in 17 villages! from the DLV community. For more details:

July 9, 10 and 11: Fête Provençale at Parc Morelon, Gréoux-les-Bains

You’ll see some traditional activities, costumes, & food (of course!)

This year the theme is olives and summer truffle (yummy!).

July 10 and 11: “In the Name of the Mother Earth” at the Couvent des Cordeliers in Forcalquier. A two day seminar around the subject “mother earth”. There will be 10 guests from all around the world that will present their vision and spiritual or scientific relation to the nature. The conferences will be in the form of debates and sharing. In the evening there will be music and shows from around the world. During the day there will also be exhibitions (photos, paintings, poems...). For more information (all in English!) and to buy your tickets, head over to: https://en.aunomdelamereterre.com/

July 11: Flee Market at Riez (from 8 am to 6 pm)

July 14: Flee market at Place de la liberté, Saint-Martin-de-Brômes (from 8 am to 6 pm)

July 14: The Bastille Day Fireworks at the Chateau of Gréoux-les-Bains (from 10 to 10:30 pm)

July 24: Foam party at the place du kiosque, Oraison (from 9 pm)

July 24: Pop rock concert “The Fingers in the Noise” at Gréoux-les-Bains (from 8:30 pm to 11:30 pm). Ticket: 5€ (1 drink offered)

July 24 and 25: Olympic games at Gréoux-les-Bains (from 10 am to 6 pm). You can just assist or if you have a team (family, friends, neighbors, work colleagues…) you can sign up to participate.

Sunday, July 25: At Place du village, Montfuron (from 10 am to 6 pm), “livres et revues en vrac” A literary and cultural festival that takes place this year thanks to the city hall and the artist association “Rires Sourires”. The idea is not to be another book fair where you’ll see the top writers of the moment, but to give an opportunity to local writers and independent editors to present their works. So go and find your coup de Coeur in the middle of the loose books and magazines presented.

August 7 and 8: Book fair at Riez (expositions, book selling…)

August 21 and 22: Evening “medieval” market in Allemagne en Provence (from 5 pm to 11 pm)

Remember if you want to learn or to understand more about history, traditions or other topics, there are guided visits in almost all the villages and in some places of interest such as monastery, oil production sites, factories, lavender extraction, wine or liquor distillery, local beer production… Just ask at any tourist office.

Enjoy!
