7 Lacs: A Peaceful & Beautiful Getaway near Manosque

Updated: Jul 6, 2021

If you are looking for a nice place to have a picnic near the water, the “7 Lacs Beaumont-de-Pertuis” can be the place you're looking for!

Just to be clear, there are not really 7 'real' lakes, however the place is really nice and about 20 minutes away from Manosque.

From Manosque, take the D4096 towards Corbière, then you continue for about 2.5 km on the D996. At the crossroads, go on the right lane that takes you under the road (to the left) and straight to the lakes. Unfortunately, there is no sign pointing to the place (I still wonder why, because it worth the detour if you are in the area).

For those who know, it is the same road that takes you to ITER when the Cadarache dam bridge is opened.

You can search on Google Maps “7 lacs Beaumont-de-Pertuis”, but oddly the itinerary proposed takes you to Pont Mirabeau to turn around. So, be aware that you don’t have to go that far to turn left!

Waze proposes the right itinerary!

Once you've reached, you will see the end of the small road where you can park. It's easy to spot! Anyway, you can't go further because of the dam.

The lakes are artificial and were created in 1960 when the Cadarache dam was built. It is now a natural reserve “natura 2000” for fishing and bird watching. You may be able to see some purple heron, cormorant, or the black stork… And if you are lucky, you may see some turtles as well.

Swimming is not recommended because there is no surveillance, so it is under your own responsibility!

It takes about half hour or more to walk all around the area. There are lots of places where you can sit and enjoy the view.

I counted 4 big "lakes” but later I realized that there are two small ones further down to the South.

I thought it was a really well-known place for locals but not everybody knows it.

In any case, during summer, you may need to avoid going there on weekends as there isn't much space to park.

We went in May and there was just a group of fishermen in the entire place.

Apparently, it is also possible to have a guided tour. Click below for more information: https://www.luberoncotesud.com/les-7-lacs-beaumont-de-pertuis.html

PS: If you go and find the 7th lake, please let me know!
